Gozo College Qala Primary
Heritage Malta is once again offering students attending primary and kindergarten (even those students who are currently in Year 6) a Heritage Card which will entitle the student to visit Heritage sites in Malta and Gozo free of charge even when the student is not on a school outing. This means that the students can visit the Heritage sites during their holidays and carry out any project work that has been assigned to them without incurring additional costs. Students will most probably need to present this card when they are on a school outing as well so please register your children. Students who have already received the card are not to apply.
Please log on at the Heritage site portal at: http://heritagemalta.org/student-membership so that you can register. Younger students will need their parents’ help to fill in the details.
At our school we have started a weekly competition for our pupils. There are three competition groups, one for Years 1 & 2, one for Years 3 & 4 and one for Years 5 & 6. On Friday, children are asked to take one of our thinking/reasoning papers home and to bring it back the week after with the filled answer and their name on it. Each week, a winner will be drawn by lot from the correct answers for each group and a small prize will be given. This way we hope to encourage our pupils to work on their reasoning skills. Parents are most welcome to help explain, especially to the younger children, but please let the children reason out the task themselves so that they develop their thinking strategies.
